Consumer rights
Know your credit-repair rights
This page is a plain-language overview, not a substitute for the disclosures and contract documents required before paid services begin.
You can dispute errors yourself for free
You have the right to dispute inaccurate or incomplete information directly with consumer reporting agencies and with the business that supplied the information. You do not have to pay a credit-repair company to exercise that right.
Accurate information cannot simply be erased
No person or company can lawfully guarantee removal of accurate, current negative information. Be cautious of promises to create a new credit identity, misstate facts, or dispute information you know is accurate.
Federal protections for credit-repair services
The federal Credit Repair Organizations Act requires specific disclosures and a written contract for covered services, prohibits misleading claims, restricts advance payment, and provides cancellation rights. Review the Federal Trade Commission's credit-repair guidance and the Credit Repair Organizations Act.
Texas protections
Texas credit services organizations are governed by Chapter 393 of the Texas Finance Code and related rules. Unless exempt, a credit services organization must register with the Texas Secretary of State before conducting business, and registrations are renewed annually. See the Texas Secretary of State's credit services organization information and Texas Finance Code Chapter 393.
Before signing or paying
- Read every disclosure and the complete written agreement.
- Confirm the total cost, services, estimated timeline, cancellation procedure, and refund terms.
- Keep copies of the agreement, disclosures, cancellation forms, payments, and correspondence.
- Do not submit false statements or use a false identity.
Questions
Ask Texas Prime Credit to explain any service, fee, document, or cancellation right before you sign. A free consultation does not create a client relationship or authorize work.
